The most common work-related injuries

On Behalf of | Jul 19, 2021 | Workers' Compensation |

Many people in New Jersey get injured when they are performing work-related tasks. Some of these injuries do cause them to have to undergo medical treatment in order to make a full recovery. The following are some of the most common injuries individuals sustain at work.

Overexertion

There are a variety of injuries that can occur when an individual overexerts him or herself at work. These injuries may involve lifting something too heavy; repeatedly pushing, pulling, or carrying an object; or putting strain on the muscles due to standing for long periods of time without a break. Overexertion can also occur when an individual spends too much time working in harsh elements, such as in extreme heat or extremely cold weather conditions.

Falls

Not all workplaces are cognizant of how important it is to make sure that their employees have safe work conditions. As a result, an employee can fall and injure him or herself. Wet floors or loose flooring commonly cause falls. These types of injuries often result in fractures, broken bones and workers’ compensation claims.

Injuries from equipment

Some employees sustain injuries from the equipment that they use on the job. These injuries tend to occur when a piece of equipment malfunctions, or the employee uses it improperly. Workers can get struck, crushed or impaled by the equipment. The resulting injuries are often severe.

If you sustained an injury at work, you aren’t alone. Many individuals suffer from work-related injuries each day. The important thing to remember is that you have rights. You may want to consider talking to an attorney so that you can determine what steps you should take going forward.
