Teens hit cop car, face charges after high-speed chase

| Jul 19, 2019 | Personal Injury |

Sometimes, people do things that they know they shouldn’t. For example, take a case out of New Haven that involved teens between the ages of 13 and 17. The group of teens has been charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, eluding police and receiving stolen property.

They are also accused of several crimes involving motor vehicles, which could include an aggravated assault charge for crashing into a cop car. They led police across multiple towns before the Hanover police were able to stop the teens.

According to the original story, the teens from Connecticut led the police on a high-speed chase prior to hitting a cop car. They had been flagged after their vehicle, which had been stolen from New York, was identified by police on Route 10.

After crashing into the North Caldwell Police vehicle, several teens attempted to flee, but all seven were taken into custody shortly thereafter. They’ve been linked to several car burglaries across New York and New Jersey including in Hanover, Livingston fand Florham Park.

In this case, the teens were taken to the Morris County Juvenile Detention Center. The news did not report on the injuries to any officers who were in the vehicle that the teens collided with.

It’s easy to see, however, how a crash like this case ended in could lead to multiple personal injury claims. Passengers and outsiders can all file claims if a driver was being reckless and endangering their lives. If you’re hit as a result of a high-speed chase or reckless driver, your attorney can help.
